Courtyard by Marriott Dubai

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community. Two years ago, my husband and I missed seeing the Burj Khalifa fireworks due to traffic, and, with no plans and everywhere jam-packed, we found ourselves partying with Green Community residents and holidaymakers at the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai. Fast forward three years, and we were back there again, this time checking out their wedding facilities. Here, I review our night’s stay and give you the lowdown on holding a wedding at the hotel. 

The location

The Courtyard by Marriott Dubai is located in the Green Community, Dubai Investment Park, away from the busy centre of Dubai. It is situated close to Al Maktoum International Airport.

Rooms and breakfast

The rooms are by no means fancy by Dubai’s standards, but they are clean and come with all the amenities you’d expect at a four-star property, including an in-room safe, mini refrigerator, and coffee/tea maker. Your wedding guests can also opt to stay at the neighbouring Marriott Executive apartments, adjacent to the hotel.

Loved-up couples who choose the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai will enjoy a complimentary night’s stay in one of the hotel’s suites, with 24-hour room service and concierge assistance. I hear the team also ensures an extra romantic touch is added to bridal suites.

Pool time

I recommend the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai for wedding guests travelling with children. The venue offers a nice big pool with a gorgeous view of the community lake, and while we were there, families with large broods were enjoying the facilities. The pool looks pretty stunning at night time too, a lovely location for a romantic dinner for two perhaps. Additional facilities include a children’s pool, a fully equipped gymnasium and a Jacuzzi.

Brunch at Cucina

The Courtyard by Marriott Dubai hosts a rustic, family friendly trattoria called Cucina. A wood-fired pizza oven bakes traditional thin crust Italian pizzas, and, every Friday, there’s a delicious brunch. I’ve eaten there a few times; the food is always good and the service perfectly adequate. A nice bonus is the live entertainment supplied by a male and female duo, who belt out classics from across the decades. During the cooler months, Cucina offers a lovely terrace overlooking the community lake.

The restaurant has a number of food stations offering Italian favourites, such as soups, salads, pastas, risottos and anti-pastas. I loved the fresh juices, displayed in pretty vintage-style dispensers. This brunch is a great choice for families as kids are sure to enjoy the cotton candy machine, play area and mini-buffet options.

Wedding venue tour and facilities

Located amid a serene lake and picturesque parkland, and away from the bustling city, The Courtyard by Marriott Dubai offers more than 1,169 square metres of versatile function space, a separate entrance for wedding parties, a majestic foyer and regal red-carpeted steps.

During our stay, we were taken on a guided tour to check out the hotel’s wedding venues. There are several options to choose from, including the Grand Ballroom, which caters for up to 500 guests and has an adjoining terrace that could be used for a cocktail reception on a balmy evening. The Courtyard Marriott by Dubai’s main wedding venue hall and foyer has a colonial feel to it, with high ceilings and plenty of light – it really is very pretty. There’s also a green lawn area called the ‘Amphitheatre Park’ – perfect for small, intimate weddings. The hotel offers ample, free parking space for guests.

While there’s no spa or salon, the adjoining community centre offers plenty of options for massages, manicure, pedicures and hair styling.

In short:

The Courtyard by Marriott Dubai, is an affordable accommodation choice for your wedding guests travelling to Dubai with family, although keep in mind it’s not centrally located. For weddings, it’s an ideal option for a budget-friendly wedding in a tranquil setting, away from the busyness of Dubai.
