Romantic Movies – A Film-Obsessed Wedding in Lebanon
We love it when a wedding that totally embraces the couple’s passions and hobbies lands in our inbox. Today’s real wedding focuses on the ‘theme’ elements and revolves around the Lebanese couple’s deep-rooted passion for movies and film. The theme was set with the Save The Date and creative invitations by Dubai based Design by Louma, and our bride, Myriam Sassine, then got to work planning her dream wedding to her love, Badih Massaad.
Below, Myriam talks us through the vision behind her romantic movie wedding, which featured the colours grey and yellow, lots of personal touches and the coolest wedding posters we have ever seen.
A Note From The Bride
Since we both work in the audiovisual business and have a passion for cinema, we decided that our wedding theme would be romantic movies. We picked a colour palette of yellow and grey. Then we started thinking about how to make the cinema theme become a reality.
Design by Louma did a great invitation inspired by the theme, as well as an original save the date in the style of a movie poster.
We decided to name the tables after romantic films. We insisted that all the films we picked would have happy endings. Hitting two birds with one stone, we combined the card guiding guests to their tables with the thank you gift, and gave all our friends and family a DVD of the film assigned to their table so they’d know where to sit.
Design by Louma advised us that it would be more elegant to unify the designs of the posters, so my talented cousin Danielle Sassine created some amazing alternative designs based on her extensive research into alternative movie posters. Danielle then found a great deal in order to do the printing and DVD authoring.
The other cinematic ideas were as follows:
· A red carpet wedding cake with a Polaroid of the bride and groom kissing
· A big screen on the dance floor with a VJ playing visuals in parallel with the music
· A table centre inspired by the movies, with a popcorn bowl for the flowers, a Pepsi bottle with a sunflower in it and a clap board photo holder for each table’s poster
· A short film made by our friends introduced us before we entered the ceremony
. The grooms button hole was a clapper board
· Our photo booth also included posters. A graphic designer redrew the four posters we chose, for the films Bridesmaids, Wedding Crashers, Love and Other Drugs and My Big Fat Lebanese Wedding (the original title includes the word Greek but we replaced it).
After making these posters, we printed them in high resolution, cut up the faces and created a system so that people could take photos inside them. This photo booth was very successful.
