Unlocking Bridal Hair Secrets: An Interview with Samantha Morris, Dubai’s Newest Bridal Hair Specialist
Today, we’re discussing all things bridal hair with Samantha Morris, Dubai’s newest bridal and events hair specialist. Originally from London, England, Samantha, also known as Sammy, recently joined Salon 971, based in Al Barsha, and has already become highly sought-after in Dubai. With an impressive background in styling hair for top celebrities, influencers, and VIPs in London and beyond, Sammy brings 10 years of experience and knowledge to the table. So, ladies, pay attention as Sammy is here to share her wisdom and tips with our readers.
Congratulations on your new role at Salon 971, how has the transition been so far from London to Dubai?
Thank you! The transition to Dubai has been exciting although I’m still adjusting to the new environment, I’m lucky to have a great support system with my team at Salon 971.
What brought you to this industry?
I’ve always been passionate about the Beauty, Hair and Fashion Industry. I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to combine my interests with my skills, so that going to work would always feel fulfilling!
How long have you specialised in bridal and events hair and why this niche?
I’ve specialised in bridal and events hair for the past 10 years. I love that I can showcase my creativity and create unforgettable moments with my clients. I feel honoured to be a part of the special moments in their lives.
Talk us through your process, how do you help brides choose the right style for their special day?
I think it’s important to conduct a hair trial, it takes away any uncertainty and makes you feel confident on your Wedding Day. I always ask my clients to have any images or ideas ready so we can see if the look is achievable and suitable for them. I will then recreate these looks and make suggestions on accessories, extensions, a veil etc.
Do you work with extensions?
Yes! Whether they already have extensions or just want clip-ins for the day, I will find a way to add them into the style seamlessly so no one will know! They make any style look full and fabulous so it’s something brides should consider depending on the length and thickness of their natural hair.
How long should a bride typically set aside time wise for her hair on her wedding day?
I would always suggest 2 hours. Even with having done a trial, anything can happen on the day! You’ll most likely be having hair and make up done at the same time so both artists will need time to work together.
Do you offer in salon services only or are you able to visit the bride at her wedding venue or home?
I offer both in-salon services and on-location services, providing flexibility for clients to choose the option that best suits their preferences and convenience.
Any top tips for bridal hair care in the lead up to a wedding?
- Have regular trims to maintain healthy ends.
- Consider a deep conditioning treatment.
- Practise your chosen wedding hairstyle to ensure it complements your overall look.
- If you’re having an Up do, then wash your hair the day before so the style will hold for your big day!
- Always consult with your stylist for personalised advice based on your hair type and needs.
Lastly, let’s talk trends: What are some top 2024 bridal hair trends we can expect to see this year?
