This product is 100 % Toxin Free, according to the team at Vita Liberata UAE. It is also packed with botanical extracts, making it kind and nourishing to the skin, is 80% organic, not tested on animals and best of all… it’s odourless! And….I haven’t finished yet; apparently the colour can last up to 1 week and has a natural fade so you don’t go patchy. Sounds too good to be true, right?
I got the chance to test the Vita Liberata ‘at home’ spray tan myself. Considering that every bride to-be wants to look her very best for her wedding day, and of course the romantic honeymoon, I feel this review will be useful to those brides wanting to tan quickly and safely prior to either occasion.
The preparation:
Vita Liberta expert and Managing Partner of the UAE franchise, Shauna Ramskill arrived at to my flat with her portable tent and spray tan tools. Prior to my treatment I had been sent a step by step preparation guide to follow, which included:
- Shower and exfoliate the day before your tanning session and use products which do not contain oils
- Waxing/Shaving at least 24 hours prior to your treatment NEVER afterwards
- Do not wear makeup, deodorant or oily skin products to the session. Clients should not moisturize within 24 hours of tanning.
- Certain products can affect the quality of the tan and should be avoided e.g. perfume/ deodorant / moisturizer / makeup and oil based products.
- Wear or bring loose fitting dark clothing and flip flops (not a string vest or boob tube).
The experience:
So having followed the spray tan rules to a T, I stood in my living room, butt naked, aside from a very attractive paper G-string. The spray tans are available in three shades – Hawaii (light), Ecuador (medium) and Brazil (dark). I have naturally olive skin, but I do appreciate the healthy glow a tan can give me. Shauna advised the medium shade.
Having never experienced a spray tan before, I was a little apprehensive, but curious at the same time. Shauna gave me a hair net, some sticky pads for my feet, and applied moisturiser to my hands, feet, wrists, elbows, and a little protector on my eyebrows. After a quick chat about the tanning positions one must adopt (arm above the heard, leg in turn out, etc) we began.
I was feeling a bit hot, so the cool air sensation of the tan application was rather nice. It took approximately 15 minutes in total to apply, the only scary part was the face where you have to take a deep breath and a blast of wet air shoots out at your face, but that lasts about five seconds so I can’t really complain.
The Result:
When I looked in the mirror afterwards, I was pleasantly surprised as the tan looked so natural; albeit darker then I assumed it would be. There was no fake orange glow, no streaks, just a natural shade that suited my skin tone perfectly. I even had a slight bikini line showing, which gave the actual effect of looking like I’d been on the beach for a good few hours.
I thought I would give the tan a couple of days before writing about it, so I am now on day 3 and it still looks perfect, although a touch faded. I feel that the slight fading brings out a less intense tone that I personally prefer. I’ve had some complimentary comments from work colleagues and friends, so that’s always a good sign and will definitely consider booking in for a Vita Liberata Spray tan prior to my honeymoon next year.
