5 Minutes With Paula Scalco Photography

If you cast your mind back towards the beginning of the year, you might recall a Bohemian beach styled shoot in Dubai from Brazilian photographer, Paula Scalco. This shoot was so many shades of pretty, with golden light from the setting sun and an overall warm, romantic feel. Recently, we caught up with Paula for a little chat, as she prepared to shoot the adorable baby shower of Bride Club ME founder, Rio. Incidentally, Rio’s baby shower also had a bohemian theme, which says a lot about Paula’s talent and type of photography…but that’s a post for another day.

We asked Paula some quick questions and got to see some more examples of her recent shoots and weddings, which we are sure you will all agree leave you with a fuzzy, heart warming feeling that stays with you for quite some time after. What is your favourite UAE photo shoot location?

There are a number of beautiful and unique locations only available here in the UAE. For me a desert shoot captures the beauty of the sunset the best and consistently produces great photos. 

What are your top tips for brides to be who are looking for a wedding photographer?

Try to find someone that can relate to you and has a style of photography that you like. Be specific about your requirements. If there is a particular shot you want, make sure you tell your photographer in advance.

What made you fall in love with wedding photography?

Having a previous background in wedding planning and architecture, I have always loved anything to do with decor, detailing and composition. Wedding shots help me to gather these elements and produce photographs which are timeless. 

What are your favourite details to photograph during a wedding?

I love photographing jewelry, the flower bouquet and the brides’ shoes (oh, the shoes!).

What is your style of photography?

My style is soft, dreamy and romantic. I believe my love for anything vintage and retro can be seen in my work.
