Location and salon

Enter the ground floor of the Almas Tower in JLT, turn left and you’ll see the salon on your right. It may be small but it’s well designed, chic and features splashes of its trademark colours of vibrant pink and lime green.

 The treatments

Reverse French (shellac) mani/pedi

Nail technicians Cherele and Nina got to work on my tired feet and hands.  Starting with filing, scrubbing and cleaning, they moved on to a foot and hand mask using nourishing serum, wrapped  tightly in Clingfilm which allowed the serum to penetrate deep into my skin.

Following this came an invigorating massage, followed by my nail painting: a subtle pink shade for the base and a beautiful shimmery gold for the cuticle curve at the bottom of my nails. This style of nail design is called the reverse French Manicure and would be perfect for a bride looking for something a little more daring for their nails – I absolutely loved the final look!

Paprika facial

Feeling on a green tip? An eco-diva? Then you need to try out the AHA paprika facial from Eminence – a leading green beauty product supplier. This 75 minute age corrective treatment is supposed to give skin a natural lift, leaving it instantly refreshed, tightened and smooth.

My own facial treatment began with cleansing the delicate skin around my eyes with herbal eye makeup remover, followed by a firming skin cleanser and Neroli age corrective hydrating mist. Fully cleansed, an AHA fruit pulp mask was applied with a thin layer of paprika herbal treatment over the top.

Then I was the ‘victim’ of the most delightful Hungarian arm massage with a coconut firming body lotion, whilst my mask worked its magic. Mask removed, a soothing chamomile tonic was gently applied to my skin.

The paprika gives a slight burning sensation so a stone crop mask mixed with menthol rosehip treatment was massaged into my face for five minutes along with ice water – a pleasurable relief to my tingling skin! My therapist then applied a firming skin mask mixed with a licorice root lightening booster to my face, leaving me to relax for ten minutes.

Finally one of my favourites – a facial massage, using a gloriously smelling cucumber and mint soufflé. My skin was then wiped clean and sprayed with the Neroli age corrective hydrating mist and a bamboo firming fluid. To finish off, a Neroli age corrective eye serum was applied along with a coconut age corrective moisturiser. Worried about leaving the salon feeling a little self-conscious? Then ask for some mineral powder for a light coverage.

24 Carat gold tattoo (by Instant 24 jewels)

Leaving the salon, I was handed my own 24 carat gold tattoo, with a beautiful Arabic symbol meaning ‘love’. Coming in a sleek black and gold package with clear instructions on how to apply the tattoo at home, the tattoo lasted for a good ten days and went down a treat that evening at a friends wedding reception. A great purchase for a future event.

 The conclusion

The whole experience left me refreshed and renewed, as well as particularly impressed with the results of my paprika facial, which I’d been a bit dubious about. Since my visit, my skin has remained clear and I have haven’t experience my usual monthly breakouts. In detail, my reverse French mani/padi has been much admired and – secret confession time – I’ve booked more regular paprika facials thanks to the results achieved so far.
