Diary Of A Real Dubai Bride
Only last month, our real bride Anna Lucas was feeling a little despondent when it came to planning her wedding. Thankfully, with summer now well and truly over, Anna is making progress with organising her big day once more, and has even completed some key tasks! Read on to find out what the rest of September had in store for Anna, and find out how she plans to achieve more during what’s left of October.
So, as the summer lull has finally ended, it’s time time to get some of these wedding jobs off the list.
First stop… Cara of course, for the wedding bands. Shout out to the amazing Vishal who hooks us up every time and who I send all my nearest and dearest to. The rings were chosen, and Tom’s criteria was, ‘I don’t care’ to which my response was, ‘bingo, more budget for mine’!
Now that the rings are done, we now need to start visiting bands. Working in ‘the business’, means I get to see a lot of Dubai’s finest 2, 3 and 4 piece bands and each time I book or view one, I am double ‘interviewing’ for my wedding band. You’d think that would make it easier, but it doesn’t; it has just given me way too much choice and so the hunt continues. We will be heading to JBH to see a recommended solo singer this week as she’s supposed to be awesome, and I have also connected with listed BCME vendor Josh Mccartney!
We have a rough idea what we’re doing in terms of suits, but knowing when is the best time to source them is tricky. Now is too early, but in a couple of months it’ll be winter fashion, so too late. I think we need to get this nailed sooner rather than later.
Finally, it has become obvious that there is A LOT of admin to do before being legally wed here. We had a meeting with the British Embassy over Eid, and were interviewed separately before handing over a lot of copies of various different documents. We also have already done the whole church seminar thing, which I told you about previously, and then we had to do more paperwork ahead of time before the big day. But now finally, we’ve had our stamp and seal of approval so we are ready to do the real thing now… legal wise!
Other than that, I’ve spent the past weeks hanging out between different eateries, the mall and the gym, longing the summer away for some cooler months so we can enjoy the best of Dubai again. It seems that those cooler months have finally arrived! There were also a lot of girlie gatherings which led to whisperings of a hen do – we’ll see about that!
My parents are coming over in October, so I’ll be taking a few days off to spend with them and do some serious wedding bits with my Mum. Cannot wait!
What I’m spending my (very little) spare time thinking about: What to do the night before and the day after ‘the big day’…stay tuned!
