Mandelic Face Peel Review
It’s fair to say that Dubai’s hot and humid climate can take its toll on our skin, coupled with the traffic and an often busy lifestyle. We can sometimes neglect our skin and the effects show.
As a bride to-be, I am currently running around planning my wedding as well as managing a small business. I often forget to drink enough water and suffer slightly from insomnia. This is all playing havoc on my skin and it’s time I got it fixed. I want to look flawless on my wedding day that starts with more sleep, better diet, more water and proper skin care. However treatments at specialist centres such as Rebecca Treston Aesthetics clinic can help. Here I review The Mandelic face peel.
- Rebecca Treston Aesthetics Clinic.
It was founded in 1999 by Rebecca Treston. She is a licensed medical aesthetician and laser specialist, and a member of the American Academy of Anti-Ageing. Rebecca and her team are committed to helping clients achieve and maintain healthy, younger looking skin. They also improve body imperfections by offering a combination of the latest cutting-edge aesthetic treatments and clinical skin care products. It is not surprising the clinic has forged a reputation as a pioneer in the field of aesthetics in the UAE.
The clinic, based in Jumeirah is not as modern or spangly as some I have visited, but it is clean, well presented, warm and inviting.
- What is the mandelic face peel?
Initially I was booked in to review the Glycolic acid face peel, but upon conducting a consultation with my certified therapist Dr. Julia, she recommended I try the Mandelic face peel, an organic peel that has unique antibacterial properties.
A Mandelic Peel is supposedly an ideal treatment for problematic, congested, or acne prone skin for the face and body. Mandelic Acid, the main ingredient of the peel is an AHA derived from bitter almonds. This helps to eliminate dead skin cells, counteract excess lipids on the skin, unblock pores, break down intercellular bonds and activate skin’s natural regeneration cycle.
With added niacinamide and clove bud oil, Mandelic Peel may effectively improve hyperpigmentation, helps to refine coarse texture and diminish fine lines, for a radiant, clearer and brighter looking complexion.
- The consultation:
I was asked to complete an initial questionnaire and had a chat with Dr Julia regarding the problematic areas on the skin. After analysing my skin, she recommended the Mendalic face peel as it apparently works faster at targeting acne prone areas.
- The process:
Once my consultation was over, Dr Julia left me to get dressed and comfortable, ready for my treatment.
The treatment commenced with a thorough skin cleanse. Dr Julia lightly brushed my skin with the Mandelic Peel, which is left on the skin for 1-2 minutes then neutralized and removed. During the removal of the peel the eyes must be closed – a slight burning, tingling sensation can be felt after removal.
A soothing mask is applied for 15-20 minutes, after which a light moisturiser and sunblock is applied.
- How did it feel?
The Mandelic peel has been formulated as the perfect painless peel to introduce clients to more advanced performance based skin treatments, with little to no downtime, as is not supposed to be a painful procedure. However, when my peel was removed I got a sudden bout of burning pain all over my skin, and started too panic slightly. Dr Julie applied some cooling cream to the affected areas and this quickly subsided. For the rest of the day, I experienced no pain or irritation.
- The results:
Mandelic Peels are best delivered in a course of three to six peels. These are recommended fortnightly over a 12-week period combined with the appropriate homecare to deliver best results. Follow up peels are recommended every 8 to 12 weeks to maintain results, as well as continuing with prescribed homecare.
I only had one session, so it’s hard to comment on the full results a series of treatments will achieve. I was told to wait ten days and see the initial changes from one session.
My skin felt notably calmer and my pimples subdued somewhat, leaving me bump free for a good week. However that dreaded ‘time of the month’ crept up on me and my skin was back to its usually bumpy, spotty self.
I did not get any of the flaking that some people report after these peels, but that may be because of my oily skin according to Dr Julia. Since I only had one session and it worked for a brief period of time, I would recommend this service for a quick fix, for maximum results and long term changes I would suggest booking a consultation and series of treatments.
- The rules:
Due to skin sensitivity, it is important to avoid the use of exfoliating products for the next 3-5 days and avoid sun sensitivities, it is important to apply a broad-spectrum sun block daily.
- Cost:
A minimum of six Sessions is usually required for effective results and will cost Dhs400 per session, but Rebecca Treston Aesthetics often has special offers and discounts.
Special Offer:
